PAT Testing
Portable Appliance Testing
Portable appliance testing (PAT testing) refers to the testing of electrical portable appliances at regular intervals to ensure they are safe for use. This must be carried out regularly at the workplace. However, equipment and appliance manufacturers advise that you get appliances inspected and tested regularly in case they have become faulty or unsafe over time.
ELECTRICAL SAFETY INSPECTION
Electrical system failure can have serious consequences and be costly for a business. Electrical fires give rise to around 40% of fire loss insurance costs in industry and to around 20% of large-scale fire incidents.
Electrical fires are most often caused by loose connections, weakening of isolations, mechanical damage and obstructed cooling. It’s important to help prevent accidents or interrupted service, and the associated costs in downtime, production loss, injury claims, increased insurance premiums, etc.
An Electrical Safety Inspection can detect loose connections or overloaded parts in the distribution board or machine. Such faults can be quickly fixed before a problem arises.
Some insurance companies will give you a discount if you have a regular inspection programme in place.
CEG will inspect your electrical system without disrupting your business.
